Mother's Day
Mothering Sunday is always the fourth Sunday of Lent however as the dates vary as to when Easter and Lent fall the actual Sunday chosen to celebrate mothers day can vary.
Mothering sunday is more often referred to as "Mother's Day" and has become one of the key celebrations in the UK where both mothers day gifts and mothers day cards are given to show mums of all ages just how special they are.
History of Mothers Day
The work children would walk through the streets picking wildflowers to give to their mothers when they arrived back at home. They often brought small gifts from the merchants or nobles that they worked for as presents for the family.
The Sunday of their return the entire family would go to church and present gifts to all the mothers and give offerings to the church. This was a day of feasting when all of the restrictions of Lent were put aside for the day. This feast day became known as Mothering Sunday. After Mothering Sunday, the children would return to their work and would not visit home again until Christmas time.
